Kottakkal Valiya Prasarani Thailam is an Ayurvedic medicated oil used mainly in the treatment of Vata vyadhis. It is used for external application in conditions like sciatica, rheumatoid arthritis, stiffness and pain of joints and muscles, etc. neuro musculoskeletal ailments, and degenerative conditions.

In this oil, the herbs are infused in the medium of Tila taila with a decoction of drugs and the solid waste materials of the herbs are filtered out. Thus the prepared oil contains both water-soluble and oil-soluble active principles of the constituent medicinal herbs. It can be used for external applications for a long period of time.

It contains drugs like Tila taila, Bala, Sahacara, Shatavari, Ashwagandha, Kushta, and Atmagupta which possess anti-inflammatory, analgesic, antioxidant, and neuro-stimulatory properties which it performs actions and reduce pain and stiffness related to neuro-muscular-skeletal ailments. It improves the strength of muscles and possesses immunostimulatory and neurostimulatory actions.
